Kinship Center

At the Kinship Center, we believe every young person deserves a place to feel seen, supported, and inspired. Serving youth ages 13–17, we are rooted in the heart of our community and dedicated to creating opportunities for teens to grow, lead, and thrive.

Our space is more than just safe — it’s alive with possibility. Through mentorship and peer support, after-school activities, resource linkages, and life skills development, we help young people explore their passions, build confidence, and develop the tools they need to shape a bright future.

At The Kinship Center, we stand alongside the next generation, empowering them to discover their voice, embrace their potential, and make a lasting difference in the world around them.

Schools

Project Kinship partners with 35 schools in Orange and LA Counties to provide restorative practices and violence prevention for students in grades 6-12. Our programs aim to create supportive environments where students can explore their emotions, advocate for their needs, and work towards success. The organization promotes joy and healing through artistic expression, community building, and pride in personal growth. Data from the 2024-2025 school year shows that 80% of students felt their Restorative Practice Interventionists helped with mental health, academics, and behavior. Additionally, 59% saw improved behavior, and graduates with long-term PK involvement are pursuing college or employment. Overall, 46% reported better motivation and mental health, while 42% felt more hopeful about their future.

Justice Impacted Youth

Project Kinship’s Youth Transformation Programs (YTP) aids incarcerated youth by offering restorative services and healing from the negative effects of incarceration. PK staff holds 16 healing circles and groups every week, connecting each youth with a mentor and preparing them for community reintegration. These circles create safe spaces to challenge negative self-perceptions and foster hope and belief in a second chance. YTP’s restorative circles enhance emotional literacy and reduce aggressive behaviors and altercations, while activities like visits to Homeboy Industries or SeaWorld help youth build life skills, relationships, and enjoy being a kid. The program also addresses systemic issues like homelessness and low-income, aiming to reduce recidivism and help youth recognize their potential and envision a brighter future.
